SmartMeals was established in March 2020 as an emergency response to COVID-19, providing nutritious meals for people impacted by the COVID-19 crisis, while also keeping hospitality workers in jobs.

Today we are continuing to provide ready-made meals to vulnerable people, made by food based social enterprises as well as food relief organisations like community kitchens.

“When you’re down and out like this, it’s tough. This food has been keeping me afloat during this particularly rough patch in my life.”

“The meals are so good. I can’t tell you how much it means to me to be able to rely on them each day.”

“Thank you so much. This food is a blessing. I don’t know what I would do without it.”

“Without these meals I would have nothing to eat for lunch. Thank you so much for providing such a great service”.

With the current ‘cost of living’ crisis many people are experiencing food insecurity. Putting food on the table is often a challenge when other bills, such as rent, are rising rapidly.  At the same time social enterprise cafes have been hit hard by the economic impact of  COVID. The SmartMeals program partnerships are helping these small businesses to rebuild, providing vital training and employment opportunities to their vulnerable staff.
Please help us to keep taking action against hunger.

Supporting People

Our team from refugee backgrounds are loving the opportunity to create new, nourishing meals twice a week for young people at risk of and experiencing homelessness and hunger. SmartMeals has allowed us to provide double social impact –  through giving employment and training opportunities to people with barriers to employment, in particular the refugee and asylum seeker community, while also addressing increasing food insecurity.” – Nundah Community Enterprises

Supporting Social Enterprises

This project has helped us continue to support the employment of 8 people with disabilities to work up to 50 hours per week. The cafe has suffered badly and we had been preparing to go to a skeleton staff, but this SmartMeals support has come at the perfect time and we can now ensure people will not lose hours of valuable employment and training– Lagoon Creek Cafe
