12th DineSmart kicks off

By November 10, 2014June 19th, 2020DineSmart, StreetSmart News

How time flies…. back in 2003 we launched what we thought would be a good idea to help people who are homeless. Asking diners at selected restaurants to leave a small donation on their bill seemed like a simple way to engage people to help fund critical services in local neighbourhoods. And it’s worked due to the communities overwhelming support.

Fast forward to this week and we are kicking off our 12th campaign. “DineSmart” has now run every year since 2003 and has helped us raise over $3.15 million to support over 840 community projects and help thousands of people who are in need of as helping hand. Other ‘copy cat’ campaigns run by larger not for profits have come and gone but DineSmart rocks on due the support of a committed band of restaurants and their staff.
We are indebted to the restaurateurs and café owners who support us each year and many have been involved for many continuous years. Here is a list of all those that have been involved for 10 years +, we think they’re bloody legends!

The 10 Years Club…

Adam Cash – Union Dining
Alla Wolf Tasker – Lakehouse (Daylesford)
Andrew McConnell – Cutler and Co et al
Danielle Finning – Ambrosia (Berwick)
David Stringer and Elizabeth Blane – Smokehouse (Sorrento)
Martin Pirc – Punch Lane
Matt Little – Tucks Ridge Café (Red Hill)
Monica Fuller – Sails on the Bay
Richard and Marie Mee – Mercato (Daylesford)
Simon Denton – Izakaya Den (ex Verge)
Teage Ezard – Ezard

To have such long term supporters inspires the whole team at StreetSmart and knowing that others share our vision and are there to help sustains our passion.

Little actions can add up to impact thousands of people…
